ISLANDERS SWEPT AT INDEPENDENT TOURNAMENT

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA -- The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders
volleyball team were swept today at the Independent Tournament, first
dropping a 3-0 decision to Northern Colorado; then dropping a 3-0
decision to tournament host IPFW.
Northern Colorado improved to 30-2 on the season, beating the
Islanders 30-18, 30-18, 30-16. Melanie Travis hit .259 with 10 kills in
the loss, while Kaley Rombs added 11 digs. Sarah Hill hit .538 with 7
kills on the match.
The second match of the day was closer, but the Islanders were edged
by IPFW 30-25, 30-20, 30-23. Lauren Smith hit .636 with 7 kills, while
Kaley Rombs added 10 digs.
The Islanders will return to action tomorrow in their season finale,
opening in the morning against Utah Valley State, and closing their
season against Texas-Pan American.
